Jul. 13--The days of chugging along at a leisurely pace once you get to the British side of the Channel Tunnel could soon be over. Eurostar has succeeded in running trains on the soon-to-be-opened Channel Tunnel Rail Link close to their top speed of 300 kilometres per hour, some 100kph faster than other British trains.
The speed trials -- which could set a new UK record by the end of the month -- are part of the commissioning process for the UKpound 1.9 billion (E2.7 billion, $3.1 billion) first phase of the link that will eventually run to St Pancras in London, allowing ...
