Jul. 15--SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas--With Tropical Storm Claudette deciding to head up the coast to the Port O'Connor area, things seemed almost normal on Monday.
However, that was not the case for beachgoers, the hotel/motel industry, some RV parks and Schlitterbahn Beach Park.
A mandatory evacuation at Island Blanca Park was still in effect and will probably remain for a few more days, city officials said.
A "no swimming" sign was posted along the beach because of to rough waters, but some people still braved the sea.
