The first thing I noticed on my way to the recent World Economic Forum in Amman, Jordan, was that it takes about four minutes for a gently landing Airbus operated by Royal Jordanian Airlines to fly over the strip of land comprising Israel and the West Bank. This is the strip causes so much pain and anguish.
The fact that two armed and determined populations, who are divided by religion and who have watched their children killed by their adversaries, are trying to occupy this same tiny plot of land makes Middle East peace seem an impossible goal.
And, the land is hardly pretty from the air. The area looks much like California's Central Valley on a summer ...
