The Angolan government is considering restructuring the contract governing the export of diamonds, reducing the influence currently enjoyed by Lev Leviev and allowing De Beers a greater say in the game, reports the Financial Times.
Currently, Angola's diamond exports are distributed by the Angola Selling Corporation (Ascorp), which is part owned and controlled by Leviev. Nonetheless, according to the newspaper, the government plans to open up the selling of the country's diamonds, which will allow De Beers to reenter the fray.
