MEXICO CITY, Jul 14, 2003 (El Economista/Corporate Mexico by Internet Securities, Inc. via COMTEX) -- There is no end in sight for the ongoing labor conflict at Volkswagen and many feel that the dispute will spill into the political sphere considering the lack of agreement between the company and workers.The company insists on reducing 2,020 jobs, after a more than 10% decline in exports, an increase in costs of materials and lost competition in the domestic market. The layoffs happened to occur just as the Volkswagen Workers Union was considering whether to call a strike over the salary revision of 2003.
