Natural gas industry representatives last week pushed federal regulators to issue a policy statement outlining the new rules for the reporting of prices to index publishers.
At least in the short-term, the industry representatives told Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) staff that a policy statement would be the most effective method of giving some guidance to an industry that is demanding some certainty on the price-reporting question.
Together with the adoption of a "safe-harbor" provision to protect companies that provide prices for natural gas and electricity from simple mistakes, a policy statement could provide enough certainty to entice ...
