II. Introduction
The three missions of Systematics Agenda 2000 (SA 2000, 1994) were: 1) to discover, describe, and inventory global species diversity; 2) to analyze and synthesize the information derived from this global discovery effort to create a predictive classification system that reflects the history of life; and 3) to organize the information derived from this global program in an efficiently retrievable form that best meets the needs of science and society. Missions 2 and 3 are dependent upon mission 1, as lack of knowledge of what organisms exist and what characters they possess inhibits predictive classification and organization of information.
