According to oJordan Timeso, the state-run Aqaba Railway Corporation (ARC) announced its intention to float a tender within the coming few months to construct a 22.5-kilometer railway stretch connecting Shidiyeh phosphate mines with the country's main railway network linked with the port city of Aqaba. He pointed out that French company Sistra, a worldwide railway construction firm, completed a study on designing the project last year.
