The new [euro]244 million bodyshop at Renault's Douai plant is notable for its flexibility and for the fact that it includes welding lines supplied from Japan.
But, as Douai Plant Manager Yann Vincent explains, there were very good reasons for awarding the contract to Nissan's own equipment specialists.
"We were deciding on body-in-white suppliers just at the time that Renault was entering into the alliance with Nissan," he says.
