GM's endorsement adding fuel to the clean gasoline race
American automobile manufacturers are advocating the use of reformulated gasolines, further propelling Southland oil companies to produce cleaner fuels.
Lloyd Reuss, president of Detroit-based General Motors Corp., recommended last week the use of reformulated gasolines in all new vehicles, as well as those already on the road.
One local company, Atlantic Richfield Co., has already introduced two reformulated gasolines, while Unocal Corp. has yet to market any. But a Unocal spokesman said the downtown L.A.-based company is currently researching gasoline formulas more advanced than Arco is ...
