Geologists from Laurentian University are joining the effort to find new gold and copper-zinc deposits in the Timmins-Kirkiand Lake area this summer.
Laurentian's Mineral Exploration Research Centre is joining a team of 14 geologists from the University of Ottawa, the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, the Geological Survey of Canada and the Ontario Geological Survey to conduct geological studies as part of the Discover Abitibi project.
Discover-Abitibi is an industry-wide initiative aimed at finding new mineral deposits in the Abitibi-Greenstone belt of the Canadian Shield in northeastern Ontario.
