Jul. 17--Richland 2 could open a middle school program in fall 2004 that would divide boys and girls into separate classes, making it the first S.C. district to experiment with single-gender schooling.
The magnet proposal is still in the planning stages and will be presented to the school board Aug. 12. The board could shoot down the idea, approve it or direct the district to study it further.
