Jul. 18--More than 1 1/2 years after the national recession officially ended, the Buffalo Niagara region continues to lose jobs.
Although the pace of the job losses slowed slightly during June, the region has lost 1,500 jobs over the last year. That helped push the unemployment rate in Erie and Niagara counties to a 10-year high for the month of June of 6.2 percent, the state Labor Department said Thursday.
The region lost jobs at a 0.3 percent annual rate during June, while revised figures showed that May's job loss was slightly milder than initially indicated. ...
