It's true that Madison and its Italian sister city, Mantova, are alike in some ways.
Both cities are situated amid several lakes. Like Madison, Mantova is bike-friendly, with a network of lakeshore bike paths. Both cities boast universities, act as regional culture hubs and are deep in the dairy farming regions of their countries.
Then again, Mantova has been around about 1,000 years longer than Madison.
