This year is shaping up to be better than 2002 for Latin American converters. "Recovery is in the air," says David Ashe, ceo and president of B2Bportales, Inc. "Latin America is alive and kicking ... Even countries like Argentina are on their way toward recovery."
Ashe gave a brief presentation about the state of the Latin American market at the May FTA meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah. He says the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) initiative is driving much of the converting business and plant modernization in Latin America.
"When looking at the market in Latin America, converting is about a $7.2 billion market," Ashe says.
