Typhoon Harurot intensified further yesterday with peak sustained winds of 165 kilometers an hour as it moved towards Northern Luzon.

Forecasters of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the typhoon is expected to hit the town of Palanan in Isabela by noon today.

Based on satellite and surface data, the typhoons center was estimated to be at 280 kilometers (kms) east northeast of Virac, Catanduanes or at 690 kms southeast of Aparri, Cagayan as of yesterday noon.
