In Australia, internally managed property trusts could be the star performers of 2002-03. Analysts expect companies such as Mirvac, Stockland and Centro Properties, to exceed the four per cent average distribution growth in the industry. With much of the data already made public, as a result of a recent wave of acquisitions, the strongest results seem likely from diversified trusts, which are dominated by stapled securities. In contrast, several Australian commercial trusts have downgraded their distribution or likely earnings as the office leasing segment continues to weaken.
