A flagship North-East science college was fined yesterday after an explosion during a botched A-level experiment put two pupils in hospital.
The court case came just weeks after St Cuthbert's Catholic High School for Boys, in Fenham, Newcastle, was given specialist science college status by the Government and awarded a pounds 6m funding package for new laboratory facilities.
