The Caribe Hilton in San Juan, Puerto Rico, is located on a private peninsula between historic Old San Juan and the Condado area. Guests can lose themselves in rest or revelry amid its 17 acres of lush tropical gardens, where crime is relatively rare. But even in this Eden-like setting, security must be proactive to prevent problems.
Consider an incident one day last year, when a guest complained to management that his room had been robbed the previous night. Fortunately, the hotel had upgraded security the year before, adding cameras throughout the facility.
