NAILS in tiptop condition look good, but there is far more to it than a well-turned cuticle. Nails can tell you much about your state of health.
'One of the most basic things medical students are taught is to look at patients' nails, which can give vital clues to their general wellbeing,' explains Dr David Fenton, consultant dermatologist at St Thomas' Hospital, London.
'That could be anything from a change in shape, which might signify underlying cancer of the lung, to changes in colour, which may highlight anaemia or problems with circulation.' So what constitutes a healthy nail?
