The builders of the Heritage Park redevelopment in north Minneapolis admit they have a drainage problem.
And it's causing them a public-relations headache - not to mention the literal headache and skin rash reported by some residents, critics say.
The issue centers on two wood-chip-lined playgrounds in the development just north of Olson Hwy. and an adjacent water-treatment pond. Project officials say that rainwater pooled on the playgrounds, discolored and flowed - to the pond in one case, and to the street and sewers in the other. And, the pond isn't draining as quickly as intended.
