THOUGH NOT MANY NOTEBOOK USERS NEED A rugged laptop like the $5,200 Itronix GoBook II, some of us do lead rough-and-tumble lifestyles that require this level of resilience.
Under the hood of this tank you'll find a 1.7GHz Pentium 4-M CPU, 512MB of DDR SDRAM, and a modest 30GB hard drive. The notebook also packs in a DVD/CD-RW drive for optical storage and a small 12.1-inch LCD with a mundane native resolution of 1,024x768 that's driven by an aging 8MB ATI Mobility Radeon graphics chip.
Ruggedly built, the GoBook's 2.4x12x9.8-inch magnesium-aluminum-alloy case weighs a heavy 9.2 pounds and has a travel weight just over 10 pounds with its AC adapter. ...
