CENTENNIAL, CO -- Mike Jouppi has spent years updating the PCB current carrying capacity charts. Now his company, Thermal Man (thermalman.com), is releasing a calculator that measures temperature change in traces of different sizes, in different types and thicknesses of board materials, in air and in a vacuum environment--for applications in space.
"People want to know the maximum amount of current they can run through the minimum amount of trace," says Jouppi. "I'm trying to draw attention to the power being dissipated in the traces."
