GROUP SETS PLAN TO AX AUSTRALIAN WOOL CORP. NEW YORK -- An official Australian committee has recommended scrapping the Australian Wool Corp. (AWC), the central organization that administers Australian wool marketing, and replacing it with three new entities.
The government-appointed Vines Committee, headed by Sir William Vines, set up to recommended changes in Australian wool administration, has completed its report ahead of schedule.
The committee has proposed to replace the AWC with:
* An Australian Wool Promotion Corp. to promote the fiber.
* An organization to be called Auswool to handle selling and quality control.
