Jul. 25--Twenty-five years after the first "test tube baby" was born in England, fertility technology has improved -- and so has its image.
When Louise Brown was born on this day in 1978, some ethicists and religious leaders said children born of laboratory unions would be "abominations." The reasoning went that using technology to help infertile couples achieve pregnancy could lead to eugenics, to doctors playing God and other unimaginable horrors.
