SINCE taking over as program director of Pacifica radio station KPFK-FM (90.7) in May, Armando Gudino has received a slew of hate mail and more than one death threat.
The reason for the outpouring of venom is that Gudino, 30, a Los Angeles native, radio producer and political activist, has had the audacity to cut several of the oldest programs on the Los Angeles airwaves in the midst of bringing wholesale changes to the left-leaning station.
When KPFK unveils its new schedule this week, gone will be 32-year-old "Heartfelt Music," said to be the longest running show on local radio. Also cut was the 30-year-old "Car Show" and another long-airing music ...
