Abortion as a human right was the focus of the meeting "Aborto: Derechos de las mujeres frente a la conyuntura mundial" (Abortion: Women's Rights in Today's World) held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, December 4-12, 2001, by the Coordinating Committee of the September 28 Campaign for the Decriminalization of Abortion in Latin America and the Caribbean. Brazil's Rede Nacional Feminista de Satide, Direitos Sexuais e Direitos Reprodutivos (National Feminist Network for Health, Sexual Rights and Reproductive Rights) was the regional coordinator of the Campaign during the period 2000-2002.
