Meet Mrs. Melissa Dean and her 25 students from Palisades Elementary School on the island of O'ahu in Hawaii.

Hawaii is made up of a chain of 132 islands, The six main islands are: O'ahu (Gathering Place), Kauai (Garden Isle), Molokai (Friendly Island), Maui (Valley Island), Hawaii (Big Island) and Lanai (Pineapple Island).

Although the Hawaiian islands are located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, they are part of the United States. In 1959. Hawaiians voted to become the 50th U.S. state.
