The company that wants to open a waste transfer station in Clay says the state wrongly rejected its permit request in order to protect a public monopoly on trash disposal in Central New York.
The company, Evergreen Recycling, filed notice last week that it may sue 10 municipalities and public agencies in four counties that opposed the project.
Mindy Zoghlin, a Rochester lawyer representing Evergreen, said Thursday that the public entities want to stifle economic competition in the trash business.
