Jul. 26--Eli Lilly and Co. won approval Friday to start marketing its growth hormone drug for use by children who are unusually short for unknown reasons.
The Indianapolis drugmaker said it was notified of the Food and Drug Administration approval that followed a positive recommendation last month from a panel of scientific experts.
"This is great news" for the estimated 400,000 U.S. children who have short stature but don't have a measurable deficiency in their natural growth hormones, said Lilly spokeswoman Judy Kay Moore. "These children have a growth disorder, ...
