ST. PAUL, Minn. _ Alexis McKinnis began smoking in high school. By the time she quit three years ago, she was smoking between 10 and 20 cigarettes a day. One night about a year ago, she resumed smoking after a two-year hiatus because she wanted to taste a cigarette again.
But this time it's different, McKinnis said. Rather than smoke every day, the 25-year-old Minneapolis resident only smokes three or four cigarettes when she's at a bar, having a few drinks with friends. On rare occasions, she might smoke a cigarette while driving or step outside at home and light up _ if it's not too cold.
