Survey of States Reveals Lack of Policy on Women and HIV Disease
The National Women's Health Network has released the first survey of state policies on women and AIDS. "Women, AIDS and Public Health Policies" reports the results of interviews conducted with AIDS officials in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. territories, Indian Health Service and the military.
According to Executive Director Beverly F. Baker, the survey findings are cause for concern: "We were disheartened, although not surprised, to find so many areas without any written policy addressing women and AIDS. Without policy, there is no way to ensure that the needs of women affected by ...
