Dick Murgatroyd was producer-director on Ruth Lyons' "50-50 Club" on WLWT-TV (Channel 5) when he first hooked up with Bob Hope.
By then, Hope had been coming to Greater Cincinnati for years to perform at the old Beverly Hills Supper Club in Southgate, Ky., Murgatroyd
said.
"Those were probably his first visits to the area, and he'd come on Ruth's show in the '60s when he was in town," said Murgatroyd, now Kenton County's judge-executive.
