Jul. 30--WASHINGTON-Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon rejected President Bush's suggestion Tuesday to halt construction of a security fence around the West Bank, a development that Mr. Bush has called an obstacle to peace.
Appearing with Mr. Bush at the White House, the Israeli leader also rebuffed the idea of releasing certain Palestinian prisoners - a demand made by Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas as both sides seek concessions before taking further measures laid out in the latest peace initiative, known as the "road map."
