Oslo, Norway -"Vikings didn't wear horns on their helmets - that's just a bit of Hollywood," says our guide, pointing to a helmet in an exhibit case in Oslo's Viking Ship Museum.
Separating fact from fiction, like any good guide, she continues her spiel.
Fact: Viking kings often were buried with gold, jewels - and sometimes slaves - in oak ships, like pharaohs entombed in Egypt's pyramids. Excavated from earthen mounds and restored, the ships on display in the museum date from around A.D. 850.
