THE rebellion against John Swinney's leadership of the SNP gathered momentum yesterday as senior party members openly cast doubts on his future.
Three Nationalist MSPs last night said they welcomed party activist Dr Bill Wilson's plans to challenge for the post.
Dr Wilson claims grassroots SNP supporters are furious with their leader's performance.
He intends to stand as a candidate for the job at the party's conference in September.
He is not expected to win but Mr Swinney's position would be damaged if even a small percentage of party members vote for the relative unknown.
