As the distinctions between supply chain planning and execution continue to blur, the focus of supply chain initiatives will shift from internal projects to enterprise-wide or extended supply chain solutions. Connecting, collaborating, and optimizing the inter-enterprise supply chain will take on a new importance as companies concentrate on process and technology integration projects that span multiple functions both within and outside the enterprise.
