THE ETA bomb which exploded last month in a hotel behind Benidorm's main beach was the last thing the resort needed.
Benidorm has a bad enough image as it is. With its forest of high-rise blocks, it has become a byword for the worst excesses of mass tourism. It is usually portrayed as one vast British enclave, entirely divorced from the 'real' Spain.
True, the resort is enormous - the largest in Europe, they say - with more hotel beds than anywhere else on the Continent, apart from London and Paris.
And the high-rises of the Sixties and Seventies are - how shall I put it - aesthetically challenging. But otherwise ...
