Red Hat Inc is weighing in on SCO Group Inc's action against IBM Corp by launching its own case to silence SCO's public claims of copyright violation and protect its open source business.
The Linux distribution vendor said yesterday it seeking a declarative judgment from a US court that Red Linux does not infringe on any SCO copyrights or trade secrets.
Red Hat associate general counsel and vice president of business affairs Bryan Sims told ComputerWire the action is a "last resort" to get the facts into the court.
