Episcopalians saw the human face of their current debate Friday when the openly gay man who would be bishop of New Hampshire rose to speak in the Twin Cities before a committee hearing on his approval.
The Rev. Gene Robinson had just heard his daughter read a letter from his former wife supporting his candidacy. Tears filled his eyes, and then he smiled and said, "Give me a minute here," before he answered the committee's questions.
