Aug. 4--Henry County is spending thousands to defend itself in a property tax dispute. Its opponent? Leland Maddox, chairman of the Board of Commissioners.
Maddox sued the county Board of Tax Assessors in late 2001 over appraisals of two commercial properties he owns.
Since then, the 20-month-old dispute has mushroomed much like the population of Henry --- the nation's third-fastest-growing county --- with Maddox now suggesting thousands of property appraisals may have to be thrown out.
