ROMAN ABRAMOVICH today promised that he would keep spending money on new players, but warned Chelsea fans not to expect them to lift the Premiership in his first season as the new owner.
Speaking from his wood-panelled governor's office in Anadyr, the capital of Russia's far eastern province of Chukotka, the oil billionaire confirmed that Chelsea coach Claudio Ranieri would stay for the whole season, but warned: "Even the best players don't immediately make a team. Time is needed to make a team, then you hope for a result."
