Aug. 6--AUSTIN, Texas--Mega Millions, the multistate lottery game intended to generate jackpots into the hundreds of millions of dollars, has muscled out the better-known Powerball for the right to sell tickets in Texas.
State lottery commissioners gave the go-ahead Tuesday to negotiate a deal that will put Texas in the Mega Millions consortium by late October. Lottery officials said the consortium, which is made up of 10 large states including New York and Michigan, is a better fit for Texas.
