Aug. 6--To help her boss prepare for a two-week trip to Europe, Joanne Salisbury recently made several trips to the Batteries Plus store on Atlantic Avenue in Raleigh.
First she bought a $179 rechargeable battery for his laptop computer. On another visit, she spent $16 to buy several button-cell batteries, like those found in watches, and a dozen double- and triple-A batteries. Her boss needed them to operate his electric razor, Palm Pilot, hair dryer, and pocket-size alarm clock and radio.
