BOSTON _ The seesaw game that featured offensive fireworks and blown leads on a warm night at Fenway Park came down to one vital, late-inning confrontation.
And Boston's Trot Nixon won the important showdown with Anaheim All-Star reliever Brendan Donnelly, the stingiest pitcher in the majors.
Nixon smacked a two-out RBI single to center in the seventh, snapping a tie and giving the Red Sox a wild 10-9 win over the defending World Champion Angels Tuesday night.
