For hydro czar Gary Garbrecht, eight hours of live television, a boatload of bickering drivers and drama right down to the final heat are exactly the conditions he hoped to stir up when he was tabbed by the late Bernie Little to pump new life into unlimited hydroplane racing three years ago.
Even if it means drawing the ire of Little's old team, the Miss Budweiser, every now and then, Garbrecht and his son Bart plan to keep steering the sport through some of its roughest waters.
