Aug. 7--When Fremont Symphony Orchestra executive director Anastasia Herold tied the knot with Wendell Arnold, they asked for no material gifts.
What they got instead was one of the biggest surprises of their wedding day -- a card with a $25,000 check tucked inside: a donation to the symphony in their names.
"It was the first card we opened," said Herold, of Union City. "We were completely shocked and in awe of the amount."
The money came from family friend Howard Hyman and the Fremont Bank Foundation, which has long supported the symphony. Hyman, ...
