TERROR chief Michael McKevitt, founder of the Real IRA gang that masterminded the Omagh bombing, was last night facing up to 20 years in jail.

A Dublin court found him guilty of directing terrorism - the first person to be convicted of the new offence, which was brought in following the atrocity in the market town on August 15, 1998 that killed 29 people and unborn twins.

He was also convicted of membership of the illegal organisation.
