LEGAZPI CITY, Aug 7 Asia Pulse - The Fiber Industry Development Authority (FIDA) is contemplating the revival of the ailing abaca industry in the province of Sorsogon, via the "Sorsogon Abaca Disease Management and Replanting Program."
Ramon Borromeo, FIDA regional director for Bicol, said the program would rehabilitate about 11,345 hectares of abaca plantations and replant another 1,906 hectares of abaca in the province.
"This will benefit some 4,044 abaca planters in Sorsogon," Borromeo said.
The province has about 16,987.23 hectares devoted to abaca.
