For hospitals, home is where health care savings are

Hospitals and health maintenance organizations alike predict that a trend toward delivering routine services in the home will continue to grow, both as a way of curbing costs and improving the quality of health care.

A decade ago, home health care might have meant a visit from a nurse or other attendant to check a respirator or other device. But today, procedures such as blood transfusions, cancer chemotheraphy, premature infant care and skilled nursing care are available through home health care services.
